First-Term Spread: Vance's Dilemma

The fourth AI winter has come and gone within my lifetime. Walking down the halls of AFRL, several people whispered of its coming doom. Few thought it would happen so fast. Societal technological advancement has truly changed the speed of the winds, but, unlike that of God's right hand, we do not influence the direction, only the magnitude. As an ex-physicist, this sparks notions of the mythical magnetic monopole's existence. Though we scientists believe in its existence, physical confirmation, let alone control, has always eluded us. So, too, shall the pending credit default swap (CDS) spreads erode the very national advantage some nations so seek.
