Mechanized Rest Circuit: A No-Brainer Military Recovery
Future warfare is not coming. It is already entering production. The Army’s M7 and M250 are being fielded, while the shorter 6.8 mm XM8 Carbine received its first delivery in April 2026. Ironically, the Army’s “future” is already here.
Why Care?
The Marine Corps still fields the 5.56 mm M27, while the Army is building its next-generation small-arms architecture around 6.8 mm weapons, ammunition, optics, and supporting systems. My assessment is that these paths will eventually converge—not necessarily into the same rifle, but into an increasingly common production and sustainment ecosystem. The important question is what happens when commonality becomes economically and operationally irresistible.
